Make a homemade planter
Why not create a DIY Mother’s Day planter which could sit proudly on the patio, porch, balcony or in the backyard? Our range of containers would suit any plant arrangement, no matter how big or small.
When choosing your arrangement, you want a feature plant which will go in the middle of your planter to add height and grab your attention. Daffodils and tulips make great centre pieces at this time of year, or if you wanted some striking greenery, a small conifer would add drama to your container. Smaller, lower plants like primroses will offer plenty of colour to fill around the edges of your pot and both will come back year after year.
Homemade plant label stones
Looking for a simple and cute solution for making garden markers in mum’s garden? Why not gift her some personalised painted stones? Keep an eye out for decent sized, smooth stones that are already in your garden. You can use paint pens that are designed to be able to use on rocks or acrylic paint can also be used. Your designs can be simple like the name of the plant in attractive writing, or why not be creative and paint the stone with the vegetable or flower it marks?

Terracotta flower pots can make such great gifts for mums on Mother's Day and when painted will add some vibrant colours to your garden. The first thing you want to do is to make sure your terracotta pots and clean and free from dust and dirt. Then you are ready to prime your pots.
When you are ready to create your design, it’s time to tape your pots. Use the tape to create stripes, chevrons or shapes of colour. Paint your design and then slowly peel the tape off for crisp, straight lines. You can also use stencils, stamps or stick your own polka dots to complete your one-of-a-kind gift.
The last step is to glaze and seal all the painted areas of your pots so they stand the test of time in your mum’s outdoor space.
Make flower pot wind chimes
Making a flower pot wind chime is a fun and simple project to do with children. All you need is 3 different sized terracotta plant pots, that have drainage holes in the bottom. Our range of Essential Terracotta Pots are ideal for the windchimes.
Use some acrylic paints to create your designs. They can be striped, floral, rainbow coloured – the possibilities are endless!
To make your chime, you can use string or twine the holes of the pots. Tie big enough knots on the string to hang the pots together. Carefully drop a seed onto each dot of glue, then fold the top half of the kitchen roll over to secure the seeds while the glue dries.
When planting, simply water your soil, place the seed tape down flat and lay some moist compost on top. The kitchen roll will quickly disintegrate and decompose in the ground and Within a you’re your seedlings should start to grow.

There are several herbs that are easy to grow inside, but the most fragrant and frequently used are rosemary, thyme, and mint.
