How to make Perfect Honey Glazed Pigs in Blankets
Savour the Season: Perfect Honey-Glazed Pigs in Blankets
As the days shorten and the garden settles into its winter rhythm, our kitchens begin to take centre stage. This is the time of year when familiar flavours return — slow-cooked comforts, aromatic spices, and the kind of sharing dishes that bring everyone to the table.
Among the classics, few things signal the start of festive feasting quite like pigs in blankets. Sweet, savoury and unmistakably seasonal, they’re a simple pleasure that never fails to disappear within minutes.
For our winter “Savour the Season” recipe, we’re sharing a fresh take on this much-loved favourite: Perfect Honey-Glazed Pigs in Blankets. Crisp streaky bacon, caramelised with a drizzle of honey, wrapped around juicy chipolatas and roasted until deep golden. They’re effortless, comforting, and the kind of festive bite that pairs beautifully with winter garden gatherings — from Boxing Day brunch to chilly afternoons spent outdoors around a fire bowl.

Ingredients
-
8 rashers of smoked streaky bacon
-
16 chipolatas
-
2 tbsp honey
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
Festive Tip: Stir wholegrain mustard into a little honey for the quickest, most delicious dip.
Method
1. Preheat.
Heat your oven to 190°C / 170°C fan. A hot oven is the key to crisp, caramelised bacon.
2. Wrap.
Halve the bacon and wrap each piece around a chipolata. If needed, secure with a cocktail stick.
3. Glaze.
Brush generously with honey — use as much or as little as you like. More honey means a deeper, stickier finish.
4. Roast.
Cook for 30–35 minutes until the bacon is golden, glossy and crisp.
5. Serve.
Season lightly and serve straight from the oven. Allow them to cool for a moment… if anyone can resist.
Hosting Notes
What we love most about this recipe is its versatility. Keep a tray warm in the oven for guests arriving from the cold, pair them with mulled cider outdoors, or use them as part of a long, lazy Christmas lunch. They also sit beautifully alongside our winter garden table styling — earthy linens, natural textures and a scattering of seasonal foliage.
This is seasonal cooking at its simplest: a handful of ingredients, minimal preparation, and maximum joy. A small ritual that marks the start of festive gathering.
